Where sighs come from

The slightest sighs escape my lips
once in a while. Not that it matters
I no longer listen anyway
to “that place” where sighs come from
It is insisting to be mum
no longer persisting to be heard.

Still a sigh should mean something
If not a storm brewing
then maybe stirrings, feelings
meaningless and absurd.

Oh, to one day just. stay. still. … But if you must keep moving, Pai, I pray that you find what you seek. In the faces of new people that you meet, in the new places your flighty feet will take you, in the moments that send you to a hearty laughter, or quiet weeping. In the silence or the noise. Maybe in none of these things. Perhaps in all of these things combined, and more. But always, I pray, that ALWAYS, you encounter God in the thick of it all. (Taken with instagram)

Natasha Bedingfield - THESE WORDS

Paia in a song. There’s not a single line in this song that doesn’t ring true for me. Even the video looks like something I wish I could’ve made myself.

“That’s all I got to say. I love you, is that okay? :)”

Tell me when will you be mine? Tell me quando, quando, quando…

Tell me when will you be mine? Tell me quando, quando, quando…

Love After Love (by Dereck Walcott)

The time will come
when, with elation
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror
and each will smile at the other’s welcome,

and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you

all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,

the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.

HOW TO BE ALONE  -  Poem by Tanya Davis, video by Andrea Dorfman

“…Because if you’re happy in your head, then solitude is blessed…

There is heat in freezing. Be a testament.”

I wish I could have written this poem, or made this video, myself. For lack of a better word, this is beautiful.

So not an artist, but the important thing is having tried.

The Alliance Francaise de Cebu, where I’m taking my weekly French lessons, will be holding the Fête de la Francophonie on Thursday, March 10 to kick off celebrations for the Francophonie Month. Francophonie is an international organization of polities and governments with French as the mother or customary language. Je suis excitée!

Anyway, each class had to come up with a project to be exhibited on the fête itself and we had decided on making a review of our favorite French movies.  Of course, I volunteered to design the project for everyone, because I’m OC and a super nerd like that.  I can only hope my classmates are fine with it, haha.

Okay, I’m so not an artist, but the most important thing is having tried. I learned that from James Franco :) *Swoon*. Also, I had the most gleeful fun doing it, staying up until the wee hours of the morning and surviving with caffeine the rest of my (so-called) waking hours in the office. Alors, je suis si heureuse!

The challenging part was not being able to use Illustrator and Photoshop when doing the individual reviews because my trial period for both software has expired, boo-hoo. Thank God for freewares Photoscape and Inkscape.

In english, simply “Our favorite French films”

My review!

Un Long Dimanche de Fiançailles (2004) de Jean-Pierre Jeunet

Un Prophète (2009) de Jacques Audiard

Banlieue 13-Ultimatum (2009) de Patrick Alessandrin

I wanted with all of my heart to do the review for the movie below, of course. But I had to let my friend Cass do it because it’s the only French film she has seen.  Hmm how about we start a French movie club? Oh, Alliance already has that every 2nd Friday of the month. It’s free admission for everyone, by the way!

Le Fabuleux Destin d’Amélie Poulain (2001) de Jean-Pierre Jeunet

Le Pianiste (2001) de Michael Haneke

Chocolat (2000) de Lasse Hallström

My classmates and I pose with the finished poster. I wanted more done, like cut out small squares at the edges so that the poster looks like one big film strip, but I guess I can only impose my OC-ness so much.  Didn’t want to become Classmatezilla!

I can’t wait to see what the other classes have come up with and looking forward to the free food and wine (surely) on Thursday. Will be snapping pictures, mais oui!
